Alpha Hockey, formerly the Howard Stampede Field Hockey Club, is dedicated to excellence in field hockey skill development and competition. We emphasize enthusiasm, hard work and practice while providing expert coaching with plenty of practice and competition opportunities. We strive to help our members meet their athletic goals – from improving their skills, to making their high school team, to being recruited to play in college. We also promote field hockey as part of over all character development, emphasizing the importance of being a good student / athlete and person
The Alpha Hockey head coach is Doug Hamilton and the director/manager is Gina Maclean
U19 Black won the Mid-Atlantic Indoor Club Championships in strokes. Lots of great team work out there!
Among the class of 2020, we had six seniors who were recruited to play in college, joining the Stampede / Alpha alumnae network that includes college and high school coaches, All Americans, All Conference and NFHCA Academic Honor Roll athletes.
Our high school members are consistently leaders on their teams and All County Coaches’ selections. We welcome athletes who are enthusiastic and dedicated, whatever their field hockey goal is – we realize that not all want to play in college.
We don't have try-outs, we ask interested girls to join us for at least two practices to see if the fit is right.
Practices are Tuesdays for U12s, U14s and U16s and Wednesdays for U19s through the middle of August. More dates will be added if possible.
Players interested in joining Alpha for the 2020 - 2021 season, need to attend at least one practice by the middle of August. All U16 and U19 new members have to be in place by the beginning of September.
See the practice schedule and email Gina Maclean with the player's name, birth year, school and grade and indicated which practice she will attend. Also indicate if the player is a current member of USAFH. A waiver to be brought to practice will be emailed to you. There is no fee for this.
